I've got the new fireworks-folders, and I can buy those jumping crackers this year! 100% ripoff, since they cost €1.50 for 5 crackers.
I'll also try to make them soon.

But that heap of jumping crackers looks cool Blaf!

i had a go with this and it worked ok, although it only banged twice and it was a 5 bang cracker. it did burn all the way through so i think it was low quality BP that caused it to fail. i will have a fillm of it on you tube in a few days under the name of 'rapidrory'

You have to add quite much powder in 1 snapper (althought more than i thould)
But it worked fine maybe its a fun idea to connect a 7 snapper on a bigger cracker, so you
would first get 7 snaps and after that a short break followed by a bigger bang.

But they make it somewhat overdone with 40g of flash after the seven-cracker.. (Never saw one in rl btw)

Hmmm, i think i will try this device with H3, i don't have a ballmill, but i think my H3 will suffice...(can't spell)

Only have to cover the fuse with paper so it won't come in contact with pottasium chlorate.(meaning the sulfer)

So it will be storable...

BTW, in Holland i think i never saw something like this, maybe jumoing jacks, but i think unpredictable shit is illegal, puh me of a cliff if i'm wrong.

Just dip one end of your fuse in some relatively thick NC lacquer. This will prevent the sulfur from leaking out of the fuse.

I'm gonna make some of these things too. They seem very funny to me.

These things can be bought at any fireworks shop, they're called "zevenklappers", they're exactly the same as described here only they bang 7 times and are made out of green craft paper.

In the middle and somethimes at the side but I think it's important how good your MP is. I think if you have good quallity MP the snapper crack at both places.
Why do you want to know it?

If you don't have a string the cracker will stretch with the first crack and if it's stretched, it doesn't work anymore.

Hmm, interesting, how would such device function when flash would be the used sas?

Maybe it's better if you keep the BP idea but put little flashheaps on your black powder line at the crack places.

Yeah, that's just what I meant. The flash powder is just to make a nice edge to the bang.

I think it's real hard to put flash on exacly the good places of the cracker. Dont use chlorate flash!
I was thinking if gleuing would be a good idea, I mean what would happen if you would gleu the whole paper
and than quickly tie it? Would it crack louder?

Keesthemad, I think the flash would penetrate the next layer(s) at once, it could kill the effect. But if youv'e got Ba(NO3)2 or KClO4 flash, please try it. And let us know.

I've got some Ba(NO3)2 so I could try to, ill make the composition 6:3 Oxidiser:Fuel, since it is already filled with black powder the flash should burn without doubt.

May be a 7/3 KNO3 and Magnesium mixture would be ideal, because it doesnt burn that fast.

Flash powder would destroy the casing, there's no point really thinking about it.

Sorry for bumping an old topic but I gave this project a few attempts to find them all unsuccessful.
I find that you would need a very thick layer of black powder for it to work. Using this method mine only sizzle through the paper.
But then I just decided to get some meal and make a line of it and fold it. (So no wetness).
I glued the ends shut with the fuse in one end and then proceeded to fold it into a zig-zag.
Later that night, due to the fact it does not need to be dried. I tested it and it worked perfect giving a loud bangs and actually jumping.

So if you could not get it working I recommend trying this way. But this does have it's downs... the black powder can move and fall out. But if your careful and can fold it without moving the black powder side to side this method should work.

I actually use five stranded quickmatch for making jumpung crackers. I think this is the most easy and reliable way to make them, although the delay between the bangs is quite short.

I see some of you guys have doubts about details of construction. Someone mentioned a possibility of composition cracks when folding sections of the paper tube. OK, the angle shouldn't be steep, that's obvious and therefore I use ball-pen insert of 6mm diameter. I do bend the tube around this round body (which makes bends pretty round) and thus avoid cracks in still moist composition. Of course, thicker layer of wet meal should do miracles.

Yesterday I made a bunch of these jumping crackers and found out you do not have to wet the meal powder.
The only difference is that you must fold/roll it very tight so the BP won't fall out of it.
I use this method because I don't like to wait for them to drie.
If this isn't clear enough, please ask.
