Other cheap glue alternatives

You could try wallpaper glue, but that gets messy very quick. And it's not that strong.

Maybe you can try superglue, this is some kind of liquid plastic which is dissolved in something like acetone I believe.

You could use a paste made of ordinary bleached or unbleached flour mixed with water, this can either be baked in an oven or just dried, hoewever the paste will desintegrate and start smelling after a day or so.

Superglue isn't cheap (quick calculation: 1580 euro a kg!)...

I have my best experiences using 225g/m2 paper bought from a shop and putting woodglue only at the end of the paper sheet. This way you get very strong, very nice tubes without using a lot of glue and the need for meters of paper (best advantage, for thick tubes this can make a lot of difference!).

cornflour baked to make dextrin is a good glue mixed with water . wallpaper paste is useable for tube rolling if you low bake them in oven 100 c afterwards to dry.Builders merchants sell large containers of pva this can be watered down as paper glue .Best glue is sodium silicate solution it used to be called water-glass, buy it from potters suppliers it can be baked for rock hard tubes that are almost flame proof

Ordinary flour paste works but i prefer wallpaper paste which is methylcellulose, just and and stirr untill you can hold some with your hands and you are ready to go. Works great for rolling and pasting.
