De samenstelling van de ontvlambare kop is in de loop der geschiedenis nogal veranderd, de dompellucifers bevatten onder meer zwavel en kaliumchloraat; door de lucifer in zwavelzuur te dompelen, ontbrandde deze spontaan. De (onveilige) strijklucifer bevatte onder meer witte fosfor, zodat strijken langs een ruw vlak al voldoende was voor ontbranding. De veiligheidslucifers werken door de reactie tussen zwavel en kaliumchloraat. Moderne, milieuvriendelijke lucifers bevatten geen zwavel meer, maar een ijzer-fosforverbinding die ontleedt tot ijzeroxide en fosfaat.

About the lead vapours, you breath it in and it is going to settle in youre lungs and it slowly clogs up youre lungs so that you can't breath. So ALWAYS wear a mask when you melt lead or do stuff with molten lead involved. With regards Grasmaaier.

Exhile, Thanks for the reply, im planning to build rockets with a friend of mine but he says that BP sucks in rockets; im building rockets my self now:P I told him to start small but he wants to make big ones in stead, we both have very little experience in rockets so i let him do his own stuff. Now and i will start small, i told the guy also to start small just like learning to ride a bike, youre not going to start on a big bike.
