With my BP I also experienced something similar, I also had some BP balls wich formed on their own but since I wetted my mix I think it was because of that. So I let my jar to stand open for a night and milled again and then it became a powder mostly and the little lumps I had left contained a little piece of charcoal in the midle so my charcoal also wasn't fine enough before I threw it in :cry: But lets hope we have better luck (charcoal) next time. Ik ben juist terug van Parijs en ik heb de psp van de vriend van men zus meegekregen en ik was wel blij dat ik hem bijhad. Maar voor de rest ben ik tevreden met men pc dus ik ga er zelf geen kopen, zon psp is goed voor op de trein of het vliegtuig maar ik moet wel toegeven dat ik zelf een ps1 en 2 heb maar dat was voor ik een pc had. En even off topic als je eerste klas neemt op de Thalis krijg je gratis eten en drinken 13 pintjes gedeeld met een vriend van me die in tweede klas zat. Pirate, hips :D

Ok ill take a look that i can give it a try next week. In most tutorials i also read that the shellack is disolved seperatly but i thought that i also read somwhere that they alyet mixed it upfront and then wettend it. Ill make two small batches one with the shellack seperatly and the other with all ingredients mixed. I only should mill my aluminium a bit up front because it do is a fine powder but when i mixed it with kno3 in a 50/50 ratio it didn't work so the pieces still will be a bit to large and probably the aluminium is also not flat because its atomised so an half our in the mill should solve the problem i hope. Should i also mill the permangate or would it be fine enough when i pestle and mortar it for a while. Anyway when im done testing and working ill post the results in this topic. Pirate

And what should i do with the shellack dissolve it seperatly in acetone(or alcohol ?)and then mix it or should i powder the shelleck and mix it with the rest of the composition? I read that when you dissolve the shellack seperatly and then mix it it gives quit a mess so im inclined to mix the powders together then wet it a litle bit and then pump the stars. Pirate

Ok ive just looked and i found 1 and a half botle. I think there still good they have the same smell as always and no residue or somthing like that and both the botles were closed thightly. Pirate

Ok il do a google search on the topic and ill be carefull when im working with the thing. Edit: I just whent to the photographer and got myself a camera with flash. Its only a pitty that our economy aint that good so everyone is trying to make some money so i had to pay 1 euro for it and they didn't give me any batteries with it but il manage. Pirate

Ah now i know what you are talking about i think. I threw 5 or 6 botles of that stuff away :oops: not so long ago because i wanted to use the containers for keeping chems in, offcoarse after they where cleaned very good before i used them. They came from my work(sorry i know i said i wasn't gona talk about work no more but thats where they came from) we reorganised a bit and therefore we had to clean out the infermarie. And instead of trowing it al in the garbage i salvaged those botles ill go see if there are some more they alyet are 10+ years old but for alcohol it doesn't matter that much or im i wrong? Pirate

Ok il let them dry for a while, this evening im going away for the weekend so then i have to leave them for later anyway so by monday they wel be dry i hope. I also used water/alcohol for my second try and that went much much better i only am surprised at how many meal you put in, therefore i think that my first three crackers wont work but ill test them anyway. I also wil try to put a picture online from one cracker he looked kind off nice so ill share it with the rest of you guys and if i can find out how il post a video of the effect if there's one that workes offcoarse Pirate

En bij deze zijn de afmetingen voor een plastieke buis(je) maar kun je hier bv ook papieren hulzen mee vullen waarschijnlijk wel maar dan zul je deze op exact dezelfde diameter (buiten en binnen) moeten rollen als de buis zeker? En de buisjes die jij hierbij gebruikt zijn dat standaard maten of zijn dat er waar je via via aan bent gekomen het is maar stel ik bestel zon ding van jou en dan zou ik hier nergens aan dezelfde buisjes kunnen komen. En wat is nu eigenlijk je prijs want dat is toch ook nog iets vrij belangerijk? En hoe gebruik je zon ding nu eigenlijk neem je je buisje welke je in de lange staaf steekt en doe je hier eerst wat betoniet in en stamp je dat al lekker hard aan met het andere stuk en dan telkens wat comp en weer aanstampen en terug betoniet op het einde of ben ik nu volledig uit men nek aan het lullen? And if you make them as cut stars you have to grind up some pingpong balls and mix that with the flash right ? And is it the same as when using dextrine or shellack that 5 percent of the mixture has to be ping pongbal or at least its powder :roll: ? Pirate

Ah i alyet thought that there was somthing wrong. But because in the tutorial it just says wetted meal i thougt it only was with watter i schould have known better. This afternoon im gona get the burning alcohol so ill try again :wink: Pirate

I also made three crackers yesterday they dont look as nice as yours blaf but i do hope they will work. I only have made em a bit to small 20 cm on 6 cm so i only have 5 snaps if they work but well see. I did make one mistake and therefore i think they wont work and that is that i drowned my meal accidently i have such a nice plant spray and i only sprayed once in my disch where the meal was in it but it still looked very dry so i sprayed a bit more but unfortenaly the water al collected beneath my meal so when i tilted my dish a bit i saw a lot of water under my meal :cry: So i tried to get most of it out by holding a tishui(somthing to whipe your nose with)in the water and this absorbed most but also a litle bit of meal. The only thing im wondering about now if the kno3 would be disolved in the water and absorbed by my tishui? But i put in enough so that the water accident schouldn't be that much of an influence i hope but well see this weekend then they should be properly dry. Pirate

Ah, great you agree to post images. Because I'm really curious on how it looks, if I look at the other Machines you've build they all look like they came directly from a mechanical shop :wink: And also then I can have an idea or it will be possible to build it myself although I don't think I have neither the skill nor material to do it myself. Oh thats a pitty it didn't work that nicely. How did you make the cores did you pumped them or where they handrolled and also did you primed them with somthing ? I know im a nosy litle bugger but if i ever get around to making my own flashcored stars then i at least have an idea of where to begin. Pirate

Ah thank you Exhile :wink: i came across that burning alcohol yesterday and on the botle it said that it was denatured ethanol around 80 precent Only it looked kind of brown through the botle but it was a creamy white botle so the colour could be a bit deformed by that. I have to be there again this afternoon so ill take a botle with me. And Blaf does youre rubbing alcohol has a colour? Edit after reading the text youve copied/pasted i think that youre rubbing alcohol and this do are different types(i know now i surely must be a rocket scientist to figger that out) It doen't matter as long it works ofcoarse but i do wonder what that rubbing alcohol is in dutch i never heard of any other type of alcohol wich you put on youre skin exept for the one they use to disinfect wounds you know the one that one that hurts a lot when you use it. And the translating machine on the internet i used doesn't know "rubbing alcohol" so that search also turned up nothing. Edit: Ok i got some burning alcohol and Exhile as you said its blue. On the botle it sais denatured ethanol and 85%. It also says that it is used for fuel,as a cleaning prduct and stain remover so it's quite multifunctional if i ever stop with pyro as a hoby i still can use it in my bike :roll: And it was around 2.60 euro so thats a lot more reasonable then 20 euros for 70 cl. Ik ben ook best wel geintreseerd maar ik heb eigenlijk totaal nog geen ervaring met raketten dus zou ik eigenlijk niet direkt weten welke maat ik nodig heb. Best een kleinere om mee te beginnen zeker en een gebruiksaanwijzing zou ook wel handig kunnen zijn Zou je mischien een lijstje kunnen maken met de verschillende maten die je kunt maken met de prijs erbij :wink: Of als je dit liever via pm regelt is dat voor mij ook goed hoor laat maar iets weten. Met een kogelmolen kun je nog altijd geen echt buskruit maken daarmee maak je mealpowder. als je dit dan compreseert(ik weet niet met exact hoeveel druk maar veel) en samenperst en die blok dan terug kapotmaakt en zeeft heb je buskruit. En als je alles met een mortier en vijzel door elkaarmengt heb je greenpowder ik denk dat het hiermee wel zal lukken om fonteinen te maken denk ik maar ik zou zeggen maak eerst een klein beetje en test het is dan weet je het zeker :wink: Maar door te millen en of te compreseren laat je de moleculen in elkaar "smelten" ofzo en dan word de compositie dus beter. Cant you make stars with it offcoarse you'le have to see if the other chems are compatible but you alyet know that offcoarse but i heard of flash cored stars before and i think the effect will be nice. But myself i first have to get a rocket airborne before i start thinking about payloads althoug thats what i want to do eventualy make rockets with stars and maybe mortars and shells but i like rockets more. It was indeed a test or somthing you do for fun on school but i know i dont have to use 220v for the EBW's. And 220 v doesn't feel nice when you get it through your hands i know also when we where testing our graphite we had to make electric constructions nothing difficult or so but we had to do it in groups of 2 and somtimes youre partner plugded in your jack and then when you got hold of the wires wich you wanted to connect you jumped but exept for some pain in youre elbow for 30 min there wasn't no real problem. But you do have to be careful when handling heavy voltages when your sitting behind a desk like we where it isn't such a problem but if youre on a ladder high above the ground its a different story. And yesterday i alyet collected some graphite from those reffilings for a pencil but it did take langer then i thought so ill have to scrape some more tonight. Or i can go take a look at some artshop because on brainfever's site he said that he got his graphite in an alyet powdered form there but that probably will be expensive so ill scrape some more. And Mister Stijntje what kind of graphite do you use also from batteries or from pencils. And how i conected is was easy i made a line of graphite about 5 cm and between 0.5-1cm withand then you have youre + and - wire and you put one wire on one end of the line and the other on the other end thats it. Probably if you try this at home youre fuse wil burn out or switch of and it wont work but as i said it was at school and they where used to have shortcircuits so i guss they put in some high amperage fuses so they didn't had to change them all the time when sombody was teasing his working mate. But if i think about it now that would be way to dangerous if they did that so maybe they had another technique but i never had it that we where without electricity there. In another post you also mentioned youre stored flash but darn 15 years is a real long time. Then i was a 7 year old boy when you made that flash 8) And the glas vessel is it airtight ? And if i may ask how come you kept it for so long without using it. Pirate

And Tyneman do you also make your flash wit sulpher or only KMnO4 + Al? I read somwhere on the net, i think it was on the uk rocketry forum that if you get a sort of green slime on your permangate flash that you best run because that slime is a litle les stable then nitroglycerine but they didn't say how you could get to this stadium not that im gona try it out but it probably was when moist got to it i think(please correct me if im wrong) Pirate
