Hi I made my first thumping thunder cracker, it contained a greeen star, 0,8g KNO3/Mg flashpowder and it was recorded in front of dikes, so the report didn´t seem so loud. That is the video: I was quite surprised, because it was very loud for such a small amount of KNO3/Mg. The KNO3 was airfloat, the magnesiumpowder has got roughly 100meshh, it is homemade with a sanding disk. Hi I made a test batch, and i must say I am very suprised about the result I just shook it for one minute, wetted with water. Hello all Because I am lack of a ball mill and I haven´t got the right materials for build one, I want to make BP another way. I simply want to take a jar out of stainless steel, put some nuts in it ( the half way full), add a mixture of 15% C and 10% S in it, and start shaking for 5 minutes. I put some charcoal in it and did a test, I started shaking for 2 minutes and the result was airfloat charcoal. After shaking the mixture I want to make BP with the CIA-method. Is it possible to make a good BP with this method? I mainly want to use this BP as a lift charge. Any advices would be nice, Pyrostar

HI Yea, absolutely true, for 70/30 flash is doesn´t really matter wether the ends are closed or not, you can also close one end, pour flashpowder in it and glue a star in the tube( + a fuse) then you will have a nitraat, or thumping thuder cracker, it will shatter the tube without problems. It is the same at my Mg/S flashpowder, 2g in a open tube that is 2,5mm thickwalled shattered totally with a loud bang. Pyrostar

Hi I don´t care about the 71u aluminium stuff, because I can get 5u aluminiumpowder ( 1000g ) for free. What about using it for KNO3/Al/S in 6/3/1 ratio, is that any good? The factory sells paintaluminium ranging from 55-3,5micron, and the factory is 8 kilometres near my house, so I dont bother about ordering alumiumpowder anymore Regards and greeting´s, Pyrostar

Hi all I was wondering wether I can use the common aluminiumpowder( that is sold in craftshops for making silver colours) for flashpowder. Because I don´t have acces to KClO4 nor KClO3 I want to use KMnO4. I think my Aluminiumpowder is coated with stearic acid but it makes my finger´s looking like silver, also it is airfloat. The particle-shape is flake and the average size is 70micron. I want to use this formula: 70% KMnO4 30% Al And I just want to make 1,0g charges´that is the maximum. And I will be very carefull with it. A few advices would be very good, thanks and regards, Pyrostar

HI nice crackers blaf, very good work! Another good way is to mix Kittylitterdust with Sodiumwaterglass or just use a saw and saw some wood plugs from a wooden dowel and use a drill to make a fuse hole, works well even for my KClO3/Mg crackers. Greets, Pyrostar

Hi all A week ago I made some small magnesiumshavings ( 1mm). Then my mother asked me wether I can use her old coffeegrinder for something. I took the shavings and dump them inside the coffeegrinder and grind the shavings for 20 seconds in it. The result was a very fine powder that is VERY good for flashpowder It reminds me a bit after pigment aluminium powder, because the powder coated my finger grey-silver and it is indeed very fine ( say 250mesh). I made a small test batch with KMnO4/Mg and that did selfconfine in the 0,1g state. Neither does the grinder got hot nor does the magnesiumpowder ignite. I usually let the grinder sit for 2 minutes to be absolutely sure that no ignition occurs when opening it. What are you going to say about his method? Pyrostar

Hi It is a very powerfull stuff, you are right. I have too much respect of it and my maximum charge was 2,5g. I got it from Birdbangers once. I wish I have some myself, because I just use Kmno4/Mg or Kmno4/Al/S and thats not a good flashpowder compared to KClO4/Al. What about using it in a Polumna? I love them and they are the safest salutes to make. I am looking forward to see some pictures or videos, too. Regards, Pyrostar

Hi I used the chalk for writing on blackboard´s. I grinded it into a fine powder and mixed it with magnesiumpowder as I said. The Caso4 is calciumsulphate, plaster of paris. Pyrostar

Hi I have found a way to make Magnesiumpowder the very easy way( no, it is not the grinding machine). I have seen some chalk, and after that, I powdered it and mix it with magnesiumdust in 50/50 ratio. Hi all I tried the nitrate flashpowder formula that were listed here. I did a few tests with KNO3/mg (1,5g-2g in each salute). Hi I am not exposed to it all the time, because I store this powder in my gardenhouse. I was in the house for 5min with a minimal exposure of the aluminiumpowder. I am fine and I can get air easy, and my snot isn´t a little glittery anymore. Well, Ok I am not really for M80, my favourite salutes are Polumnas. I am on finding out what is the best flashpowder for this purpose. That is why i tried out the Kmno4/Al flashpowder. And I also got my new respirator today. Pyrostar
