Pretty green flames

For tubes i still find that simple PVA works best, wheat paste and dextrine might set a bit harder but after a while they go soft on you, i have here on my desk a tube I rolled a month ago, when I rolled it, it was hard as rock, today it's soft. I used dextrin glue which is hygroscopic. PVA is not hygroscopic and sets hard. Ain't to pricey also, 2€ for a 1 liter bucket, and it goes a LONG way.

RvD2002, the sizzling things in the mine are hummers, basicla a paper tube filled with a BP + metal composition and blocked on both ends with clay, then a hole is drilled in the tub at an angle so when it igintes it turns at high speed producing that sizzling or humming sound. Fyver, this get togehter was a joint effort of 5 pyros listed at the end of the movie so i did not make all those shells (For my four it took me two days )

From what I was told the red composition is Ruby red strontium nitrate 50 parlon 18 magnalium granular -325 mesh 12 potassuim perchlorate 8 charcoal airfloat 5 sulfur 5 dextrin 5 red gum 2 The blue was a formula from shimizu KClO4 - 66.5 CuO - 13.4 Parlon - 5.4 Red gum - 9.9 Dextrine - 4.8

Greets Well for those silver shells you see in the movie they all have D1 glitter in them. The comets on the 4 shells are made from a charcoal streamer composition which is the following Potassium nitrate - 53.5% Charcoal - 26.5% Sulfer - 10.5% Dextrine - 9.5% Everything else that is a charcoal streamer is a basic Chrysanthemum 6 mix. For the shell at 2:05 i can't tell what the composition was because i didn't make it. The shell at 1:47 was a better pearl mix (made with VERY fine aluminium so the effect is not as it should be) Most of the shells were round (The 4 with comets on them were 60mm, other were I think 75mm with one of them being 100mm (the one at 2:30)) We also had one multi break but only one break exploded (2:41) The rapid firing cake at 0:25 had small 35mm shells in the, each one broken with 2g of KNO3 flash. You were very close -.B.- The mine at the end had a golden glitter and some hummers The glitter's formula is I belive KNO3 - 55% Sulfur - 7% Charcoal - 17% Magnalium - 3% (100-200mesh) Aluminium - 10% (Atomized, 325mesh) Red iron Oxide - 4% Dextrine - 4% If you guys have any more question ask them, i'll try and answer them Glad you like the shells. Hehe, oh well, gonna make some slight changes so it will only need one person to operate it. Firstly the funnel that feeds the powder into the first dye will be fixed to the machine in a way that it can be removed when i have to change the empty string rolls or when something else unpredictable happens Second, something vibrating, probably from a mobile phone, will be fixed to the funnel so you don't have to tap it constantly. After i makes these changes it will be a one man operation . Hopefully this will be the end of construction and fuse production will begin. Cheers

It works perfectly, all it needs now is a coat of NC lacquer to prevent the strands from unraveling. Cheers

Spruce is good, i have used it for some time as my main charcoal for BP and it performed very well.

Actually, it's the other way around. Slower than normal BP will lift a bigger shell just as good as fast BP, smaller things however need very fast BP to lift properly. In example a roman candle, if you use slow BP it will be shit, that starts won't fly more than a meter out of the tube, Fast BP will sound like a cannon and will send the star very high. But, Fast BP is always better than slow so just aim to get good servicable BP that suits your needs. Cheers.

That star in the movie seems to me more like a BP base with around 10% titanium powder in it. Iron doesn't produce such bright sparks, they are more bright orange. Titanium produces Silvery tails.

We used 200g of stars for the 4 inch and 60g of 20-30mesh lift powder (pressed and corned). The stars were cubes measuring 1x1x1cm. We didn't use any wadding except the casing of the mine by itself. Hmm length of mortar, 70cm of tube + 10cm wooden plug, so 80cm overall. Yup, most of the time they are loud hehe. The fusing was done with quickmatch (First the lift went in, then the quickmatch was inserted into the lift powder, then the stars were thrown in)

No, no fiberglass straping tape was used, it is my craft paper, i get my craft from a paper store and it has those lines which indicate in which direction the grain of the paper is running. Thanks for the comments.

It was a plastic shell, i glued the halves together with cyanoacrylate glue, this makes the bond VERY strong. After that, 2 layers of craft paper were pasted on to make the shell even stronger. For burst i used simple granulated BP, no flash booster was used. The shell weighed i think around 150-160g and i lifted it with 15g of pressed williow black powder. I attached a picture of the shell

Sorry, i don't have any pre fire pics, the mines were put together on site in the dark. The stars were cut (1x1x1cm cubes). The mine was made according to the instruction on my site yes. The composition for the pearl stars is as follows. Potassium nitrate-47 Barium nitrate-10 Sulfur-18 Charcoal-10 Aluminum (Atomized) -10 Dextrin-5 Thanks for the nice words. Cheers
